[Arirang] K-beauty and ASEAN

<K-beauty festival shows collaborative models for S. Korea and ASEAN>Updated: 2019-11-26 13:40:17 KST On the sidelines of the summit, there's a festival being held for K-beauty, Korea being well-known for its high-quality cosmetics and other products. The festival is aimed at promoting the cooperative ties with the ASEAN countries in the beauty industry. We go to our Kim Bo-kyoung, who's now at the festival. Bo-kyoung? Hi, Devin. Lots and lots of cosmetics products on display here, and one of the most eye-catching of the three zones is of course, the Korea-ASEAN Zone, where you can learn about the cooperative models of Korea and the ASEAN countries. Some new products by Korean cosmetics use raw materials produced by the ASEAN countries. such as Noni from the Philippines and peanuts from Myanmar. Especially Hansol Bio, a South Korean company, used wild plants from Cambodia to develop a product that treats and prevents skin aging, and they formed a profit-sharing agreement this February with Cambodia's Agriculture Ministry. Here's what Korea's Minister of SMEs and Startups, Park Young-sun, said about promoting the various cooperative models of Korea and the ASEAN: "With the Republic of Korea at the center, we are going to interact more with the ASEAN countries by having regular meetings with start-ups and small and medium-sized companies in ASEAN, and by organizing regular K-beauty exhibitions together. In this way, we plan to develop a co-brand for Korea and ASEAN." So it sounds like they have a bright future together in the cosmetics industry. And I understand the K-beauty festival has some products to see up and close, and even to try? Yes, Devin. Visitors to BEXCO, including South Korea's first lady Kim Jung-sook and six other first ladies from the ASEAN countries, came to get a look at Korea's promising beauty products. They checked out those made by nine small and medium-sized businesses under the name of 'Brand K', which is a system designed to raise awareness and value of small and medium-sized brands through government certification. The first ladies also got to experience some of Korea's high-tech cosmetics products such as the 3D mask pack. Furthermore, there were some special events where people could get their makeup done by professionals.
